National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) has always been supportive to expose and let the international students experience the cultural heritage of Taiwan. This year, as an annual tradition of celerbrating the Lunar New Year and to allow international students to experience the lively atmosphere of this important event, NTOU in cooperation with the Office of Student Affairs (OIA) held a special event at the NTOU Exhibition Hall from 10:30-11:30 AM on January 26, 2022 to celebrate. NTOU President Tai-Wen Hsu hopes that International students enjoy Lunar New Year in Taiwan. As a tradition, he also gave a red envelope as part the event.
President Hsu hopes for students to have a wonderful Year of the Tiger as they enjoy their research endeavors. He also encouraged them to stay healthy as they achieve their learning goals. NTOU's Office of International Affairs (OIA) prepared a spring couplet where the students experienced writing in Chines character using the red papers, ink and paint brush provided. As part of the celebration, the students were given a special lunchbox to conclude the event. Students from Mainland China and international students from the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Somaliland, Russia, Panama, Saint Vincent, Haiti and other countries participated in the celebration.
Dean of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Yi-Shiung Chen said that NTOU always give importance to overseas students so that they are able to have a full experience in Taiwan not just in academics but also on the social and cultural aspect. During special occasions and festivals, OIA usually arranges several social activities for overseas students. In addition to President Tai-Wen Hsu, Vice President Ming-An Lee, Dean of International Affairs Yi-Shiung Chen, Vice Dean of International Affairs Kuo-Chung Shang, Dean of Student Affairs Sha-Yen Cheng, and other directors from OIA also graced this event as they extend their wishes to all overseas students with a Happy Lunar New Year.
