(News) The 2022 Joint Symposium Co-hosted by SixERS & USTP was held at National Taipei University on December 9, 2022. The Symposium this year was hosted by Okayama University, a member of Sixers, and the themes of the Symposium are "Global Health and Digital Transformation" and "Carbon Neutrality and Local Initiatives." Online discussions were also held in two conference rooms.

As a member of the University System of Taipei (USTP), the Director of Internationalization Information and Planning Division, Dr. Wen-Ning Chang, participated on behalf of the NTOU and invited Professor Wen-Chen Chou from the Institute of Marine Environment and Ecology to join the symposium. During the symposium, Dr. Wen-Chen Chou gave a presentation on "Ocean-based Carbon Dioxide Removal Strategies–Opportunities and Challenges" in the session of "Carbon Neutrality and Local Initiatives." Hopefully the symposium will facilitate international academic exchanges and create more cooperation opportunities with Japan.

The Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan (The SixERS) was formed in 2013 by Chiba University, Nagasaki University, Niigata University, Kanazawa University, Okayama University and Kumamoto University in Japan. The University System of Taipei will continue to develop international cooperation and academic exchange with the SixERS in the future
