Located in the city of Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, Pin Hwa High School has a history of over a century. From the 13th to the 14th, they were invited to visit National Taiwan Ocean University and engage in exchanges with the affiliated National Keelung Maritime Vocational High School and Er Xin High School. This initiative provides a unique study-abroad experience for overseas high school students, fostering communication between students and educators from both regions. The four schools also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on educational exchanges and admissions, attracting excellent Malaysian students to pursue higher education in Taiwan. This collaboration aims to cultivate outstanding talents, nurture international perspectives among students, enrich their learning experiences, and inspire future development potential.
Pin Hwa High School is a private Chinese independent school with both junior and senior high school divisions. The Malaysian students at 國立臺灣海洋大學 National Taiwan Ocean University also include graduates from Pin Hwa High School. In 2019, Pin Hwa High School was honored with the Leadership Education Lighthouse School award by the FranklinCovey Company in the United States. They initiated the "Five Seven Double Certification" new education model, aiming to cultivate students' abilities in self-care, proactive learning, and independent living through moral education and willpower training.
國立臺灣海洋大學國際事務處 Office of the International Affairs, NTOU stated that the study tour comprised a total of 85 teachers and students, primarily high school students. The visit included experiences at the NTOU Food Internship Factory, Aquatic Animal Experiment Center, and Ship Handling Simulation Center. Additionally, National Keelung Maritime Vocational High School provided experiences in catering and beverage services, while Keelung Er Xin High School arranged diverse technological activities such as 5G VR robotic arms, artificial intelligence, drone group flights, and ChatGPT artificial intelligence experiences. These activities allow students from Pin Hwa High School to gain in-depth insights into Taiwanese culture, educational systems, secondary school curricula, university departments, admissions information, campus environments, and the promotion of marine education.
President Hsu Tai-Wen of NTOU led a school delegation to visit Bin Wah Independent Chinese Secondary School in Malaysia in November of last year, expressing high praise for its outstanding achievements in Chinese-language independent education. He warmly invited the school's teachers and students to visit Ocean University. Every year, Ocean University welcomes over 40 new students from Malaysia, with nearly 200 Malaysian students currently enrolled, demonstrating that Ocean University has become a popular choice for students in the Malaysian region.
國立臺灣海洋大學 National Taiwan Ocean University emphasized that this event is part of the collaboration between Ocean University, National Keelung Maritime Vocational High School, and Keelung Er Xin High School. It aims to deepen the understanding of Taiwanese culture and educational systems among Malaysian students. This cross-school collaboration is not only a significant international educational exchange event but also a shared commitment between academic partners in the two regions.
NTOU expressed anticipation for spending enriching two days with the study tour from Malaysia, believing that this activity will be an unforgettable experience for the students and further deepen academic exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
