【URGENT】NTOU COVID-19 Preventive Measures (Continuous Update)

     This release is the latest update for the epidemic prevention of NTOU in response to the increasing local transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic of Taiwan. President Tai-Wen Hsu held a pandemic prevention meeting in the afternoon of May 13, 2021, to review the school COVID-19 response and actions under the government’s existing pandemic control, guidelines, and policies.

     Everyone is requested to cooperate and observe guidelines and measures to ensure the campus and everyone’s safety; always check the NTOU and OIA website for the latest updates and announcements. Please be guided accordingly.

Teaching

  1. The teaching method now shifts from classroom to distance and online platform effective Monday, May 17, 2021. There will be an integration of software and other applications such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Tron Class for the online class. Paper-based examinations and evaluations will continue to be adopted. The English manual or guide on how to use the Tron Class and Microsoft Teams for NTOU online courses is attached and can be downloaded from this page; please check the files at the bottom. You can also ask assistance from your Professor or Teaching Assistant on how to use the online platform.
  2. For graduate students who have lab meetings and seminar classes, please confirm with your professor for the possible arrangement.
  3. For students who will be required for a paper-based examination, they can return to school and take the written exam. The examination venue will be decided and announced by the Department. Communicate with your professor or teaching assistants for this arrangement.
  4. Freshman English TOEIC, basic calculus, advance planning college courses for high school and other related activities are canceled.
  5. For the recruitment activities, job fairs, internship briefings, and interviews will be through online video calls and conferences.   

Food

  1. For those going to the restaurants, Contact Information System will be implemented. Scanning of QR codes and information such as name will be required upon entry.
  2. Take-out policy will be strictly implemented in the university restaurants and cafeteria .

Activities

  1. All outdoor gatherings with more than 500 people and indoor gatherings with 100 people must be canceled.
  2. The graduation ceremony adopts either the “School-Level Graduation Ceremony” or “Department-Level Ceremony” mechanism. These contingency plans will be adjusted based on the future developments of the pandemic situation. Check the website for updates.
  3. The Keelung Island tour as one of the activities for graduate students is canceled.
  4. Graduation fireworks activity is postponed.

Administration

  1. Campus-wide disinfection was made last May 13, 2021.
  2. All buildings will strictly implement a single entrance system with temperature checking and wearing of mask requirements. Those who will not wear masks are not allowed to enter the building. The OIA entrance is now across the Student Activity Center.
  3. Public areas will be restricted. Non-students, non-working employees and officials, and school contracted vendors are not allowed to enter the University premises, including vehicles.
  4. The gymnasium, recreation hall, swimming pools, and soccer field are closed.
  5. The faculty members and employees must continue to manage their own health. Make sure of wearing masks, frequent hand washing, paying attention to the area ventilation, and avoiding crowded places. Individuals with fever and respiratory symptoms must wear a mask and are encouraged to seek medical treatment and stay home to rest.
  6. As announced by the National Health Command Center – Taiwan Center for Disease Control, the public activity history and the time listed in the announcement where a confirmed individual is positive with COVID-19 are considered. An individual present in the same relevant place (based on entry and exit time) must cooperate and undergo health management or supervision. For 14 days, a person undergoing self-health management must report his/her current health status to the NTOU Health Center through its Travel/Contact Online Notification System. The University strictly implements the pandemic prevention measures, and those with symptoms must immediately notify the NTOU Health Center (with extension numbers 1070 - 1073).  Inform authorities by calling 1922 Hotline.
