【NEWS】National Taiwan Ocean University strives to cultivate maritime talents with Vietnam
National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) continuously cooperates with Vietnam in joint degree programs and has already signed agreements with several universities. The head of Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (VECO), Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung, led the delegation, including the Deputy of VECO, Mr. Tran Van Thuy, and distinguished professor, National Central University; Honorary President, Vietnamese Experts Association in Taiwan, Prof. Acad. Yuei-An Liou visited NTOU on Oct. 6, 2019.
Dr. Tai Wen Hsu, the president of NTOU, indicated that NTOU has scored great success in the fields of marine ecology and conservation, fisheries and aquaculture, marine environmental pollution, marine engineering, and Transportation, logistics management, and ocean law and policy. Vietnam has a long coastline and river floods and earthquake disasters as the same as Taiwan. NTOU can share academic research and experiences with Vietnam and hopes that both sides can further deepen cooperates in academic and technique exchange.
In addition to discussing the achievements of the Global Research and Industry Alliance (GLORIA), NTOU and delegation also plan for academic cooperation in ocean law and policy. During the meeting, NTOU students ( Mr. Bao Trung Nguyen and Mr. Duy Tong Nguyen) from Vietnam shared "Living And Studying In NTOU". They appreciate that NTOU provided scholarships and the students can focus on their schooling and research. Dr. Ming An Lee, Vice President of NTOU, noted that Union Tech Lectures invited National Central University; Vietnamese Experts Association in Taiwan, Prof. Acad. Yuei-An Liou to share his research on climate change adjustment strategies and academic exchange experience at The International Conference on Earth Observations and Societal Impacts. The lecture will facilitate academic exchange and cultivate talents in both Taiwan and Vietnam.
NTOU currently signed agreements with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Can Tho University, Nha Trang University, College of Food Industry, The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology, National Economic University, Vietnam Maritime University, Vietnam National Institute of Maritime Medicine, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, VNU University of Science Hanoi, Vietnam, and FPT University.
